Case Study for the Avalanche Bed Mat GM wanted an all rubber bed mat that would withstand the elements. This was the first time that EPDM rubber had been used in such an exterior application and Mitchell Rubber Products was able to develop a new material and work with GM on creating a material specification. Mitchell Rubber Products also teamed with GM to produce a design that would fit snugly to the contours and sides of the truck bed without requiring any additional attachment mechanisms. The aggressive tire tread styling is typical of our compression molding process.
